Brussels played host to the latest gathering of Action for Sustainable Derivatives (ASD) members as we met to celebrate, collaborate, and vision the future for collective action.

As the Action for Sustainable Derivatives (ASD) Impact Fund celebrates its second anniversary, there is plenty of positive news to report from the Kaleka Mosaik Initiative – the project designed to drive regional economic development and sustainably restore landscapes in two of the largest palm-producing districts in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia.

Action for Sustainable Derivatives (ASD) is an industry-led collaborative initiative which brings together companies in the cosmetics, home and personal care, and oleochemicals industries to collectively tackle environmental and social supply chain issues around palm oil and palm kernel oil derivatives, as well as other derivative commodities. ASD is co-managed and co-facilitated by BSR and Transitions, two organizations with extensive experience and expertise in supply chain sustainability and business collaborations.

At the start of 2022, a group of Action for Sustainable Derivatives (ASD) members teamed up to launch the ASD Impact Fund, which allows our members to pool resources and collectively invest in on-the-ground projects that drive sustainable palm production in priority sourcing areas.

Leading cosmetics, personal care, healthcare and oleochemicals companies are providing funding to a project that will generate positive environmental and social impact in the region where they source palm oil derivatives.
